The State of Michigan is learning a serious lesson about the relationship between helmets and motorcycle safety. For most of us, it would appear as common sense that motorcycle helmets save lives, but when given a choice, not everybody wears a helmet on the open road, and this is proving to have some dire consequences.
California Motorcyclist Reportedly Injured by DUI Driver
The streets can be dangerous, and one Bakersfield motorcyclist recently learned it the hard way. Bakersfield Now is reporting that Daniel Joseph Ryel, 19, suffered major injuries when his Suzuki motorcycle was hit by an oncoming motorist near the corner of Fairfax Road and Avondale Drive in Bakersfield.
Long Beach PD Launches “Motorcycle Safety Enforcement Operation”
First Napa, then Pasadena, and now the city of Long Beach is cracking down on reckless motorcyclists in its so-called “Motorcycle Safety Enforcement Operation.” The operation took place on June 30th, and involved placing additional police enforcement on specific, targeted Long Beach streets where accidents commonly occur.

The Fourth of July is once again upon us: a time for barbecues, swimming, American flags and, of course, fireworks. Before you head out on your motorcycle to celebrate our country's independence, you should bear in mind some important safety tips and observe common sense. In 2011 the U.S. Fire Administration reported that approximately 8,600 people visited the ER as a result of firework-related injuries. Of those injuries, 73 percent occurred between June 8 and July 18.
Napa, CA Police to Crack Down on Motorcycle Lawbreakers
If you live in the Napa California region, and you drive a motorcycle, you will want to observe extra caution on Saturday, as the Napa Police Department is cracking down on motorcyclists who fail to observe the rules of the road. The Napa area has been a hotbed for motorcycle-related injuries and fatalities, so on Saturday, the police force will be performing an exhaustive motorcycle enforcement operation.
